Thread is used for the base of any fly you will ever tie as well as throughout there construction. Midge, 8/0, 6/0, 3/0 and A
Both midge and 8/0 sizes can be used for midge flies.
8/0 and 6/0 sizes will work for standard wet flies, dry flies, nymphs and smaller streamers.

3/0 is adequate for larger streamers and nymphs, as well as smaller bass bugs and saltwater flies
